Level Sync

Adventuring with friends at any insight

Your friends will not all be the same insight as you, and waiting for them to catch up is a poor way to spend an evening. Level sync lets a group hunt together anyway: everyone drops to the insight of the lowest member for as long as the group holds together.

Nothing is taken from you while you are synced. Your spells, your skills and your armour all stay exactly where you left them — they are simply substituted for weaker versions of themselves, and everything returns the moment the sync ends.

Syncing your group

  • The group leader begins a sync with /sync. Every member drops to the insight of the lowest member, who is left unchanged.
  • The leader ends it with /desync. There is a short countdown before it takes effect, and a cooldown before the group can sync again — so it is not something to toggle mid-fight.
  • The sync holds only while the group is together and on the same map. Wander off and you return to your own insight until you rejoin them.

Your spells and skills

Abilities come in families that grow with you — beag ioc becomes ioc, then mor ioc, then ard ioc. While synced, anything beyond your reach is replaced by the strongest version of itself you can still cast.

Your bar does not move. The tile stays where you put it and the key still does what you expect — the heal button is still the heal button, it simply heals for less and costs less mana. The tile shows what it will actually cast, with a folded gold corner in the top-left marking it as a substitute; hover it to see what you own.

If a family has nothing low enough to help — some spells are learned well above your synced insight and have no weaker form — that ability greys out until the sync ends.

Your equipment

Equipment works the same way. Each piece you are wearing is swapped for the strongest lower tier of the same kind that you could have worn at your synced insight, and that is the piece that counts — its stats, its damage, and its appearance.

A piece with nothing low enough to stand in for it is still worn, but contributes nothing and is invisible until the sync ends. The Character panel fades the row and tells you why.

You never have to undress to sync. Nothing is unequipped, dropped or lost, and you can keep equipping anything you have earned while synced — it is scaled like everything else.
